Long March was a military retreat by the Chinese Communist. It started on 16 October 1934 from Jiangxi Province and ended on 22 October 1935 in Shaanxi Province covering over 12,500km.
The Chinese Communist started the Long March with 200,000 soldiers. At the end of the Long March, they were left with only 50,000 to 60,000 soldiers.

The Chinese Soviet Republic was established in Ruijin on 7 november 1931 giving the leaders experiene in managing part, military and state. The cradle of Republic scenic area covers Yeping, Red well, 2nd Congresses of the Chinese Soviet Republic and Chinese Soviet Memorial Park. 9 state founders, 8 Senior generals, 35 generals, 114 lieutenant generals and 440 major generals were among those who have lived and worke here. The Long March started after the Nationalist troops started encirclement and the Communist had to abandon Ruijin.

The Provisional Central Government of the Chinese Soviet Republic moved here from Yeping in April 1933. It became the 2nd settlement for the government leaders including Chairman Mao. In July 1934, they moved from here to Yunshi Mountian in Ruijin.
